  • Frisco Police Begin Enforcement of Alarm Ordinance

    December 14, 2016

FRISCO, TX – Effective January 1, 2017, the Frisco Police Department will begin enforcing a new city ordinance that was passed on November 15, 2016, governing residential and commercial alarm systems. Between August 1, 2016, and November 30, 2016, the Frisco Police and Fire Departments responded to over 2,000 false alarms resulting in 577 personnel hours, costing taxpayers thousands of dollars. The ordinance adds a $250 penalty for operating an alarm system without a permit. This penalty is in addition to a citation that could be issued with a fine of up to $500 for each separate violation. The ordinance also reduced the number of required contacts for false alarm response from three (3) to two (2). The fee for commercial permits increased to one hundred dollars ($100). Residential permits and annual renewals remain at thirty five dollars ($35).
